Benefits of infrared sauna

What is Infrared Light Therapy

An infrared sauna’s near-infrared light produces radiant heat, which raises your body’s core temperature by three degrees. This rise triggers your body’s natural detoxification process in addition to making you perspire more. Instead of only heating the air around the body, the infrared sauna heats the body from the inside out. The effects of the infrared light waves extend beyond simply the ski area, reaching up to 1.5 inches into the body.

For red and near-infrared light, your body contains specific sensors. The mitochondria in cells absorb these light particles and initiate advantageous biological processes and messages. Numerous studies show that this reaction reduces inflammation, increases circulation, oxygenation, blood flow, and muscle relaxation. It also promotes cellular energy production.

Combing heat therapy and infrared light therapy that mimics the power of nature to maximize your body’s ability to repair itself and heal issues from the inside out.

Now, read on for 10 incredible benefits of a full spectrum ( a device that includes near, far and infrared light spectrums) infrared light sauna

Detoxification

Your body’s natural reaction to the sauna’s increased warmth is to start perspiring. When you sweat when you’re relaxed, your essential organs receive more blood flow, which starts a detoxification process that starts in your cells and works its way throughout your body. You might potentially sweat off as much as a pint during a 20-minute session, along with any toxins and impurities that have built up over time.Using a dry brush can help provide a boost of blood flow to keep skin nourished & clear as wwell as exfoliating dead nskiin cells to allw you to detox through the skin more effecively.  I like this dry brushing set HERE

Improved Performance

Keeping up an active lifestyle can put a lot of strain on the body, particularly as we become older. Warm treatment and infrared light improve blood flow to muscles, which has been shown to help with the healing process that occurs after an exercise. Saunas go one step further by encouraging your body to create natural growth hormones, which could lead to a stronger and quicker recovery.

Boosted Immune System

The season of colds and flu approaches quicklly.  Regullar sauna use helps strengthen your body’s resistance to disease.  your body temperature risess in the sauna, triggering the innate immunological response in your cells.  It’s kind of like creating a “fake” fever environment to help your body burn off any “boogins”.  I make it a habit to sit in the sauna anytime I begin to feel rundown, jus tin case my body is fighting off an infection of some kind.

By providing yourself with this extra layer of protection, you cvan strengthen you rimmunity bothe during and after a bout of illness

Weight Loss

While you unwind in your session, the sauna keeps your heart pumping, your blood flowing, and your body perspiring. An infrared sauna isn’t a substitute for exercise, but research reveals that simply sitting in the sauna can assist obese individuals in shedding body weight and mass.

Your body has to work much harder to function when it is exposed to extreme heat or cold. This may cause your heart rate to rise by as much as 30%, which can speed up your metabolism and help you burn more calories.

sauna weight loss

Even before entering the sauna, it is a good idea to sip on some cool water. Your body will have to work a little more as a result to control your body temperature, which will increase calorie burning.

This works because burning calories requires your body to release heat. In a sauna, exerting yourself to chill down causes your body to emit more heat, which burns calories

Longevity

Skin Rejuvination

Being a multipurpose powerhouse, the infrared sauna is ideal for helping you live your best life. It can add years to your life when paired with the healthy decisions you make along the road. The benefits of sauna use are highlighted by a new ground-breaking study that shows a decreased risk of deadly heart attacks and other serious cardiovascular disorders.

From addressing cellulite to aiding in wound healing, near-infrared sauna therapy can contribute to restoring a healthy radiance. Consistent exposure to near-infrared light has demonstrated the ability to enhance collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, more supple skin and improved healing.

My esthetician told me that one of the secrets to amazing, radiant skin is to sit in the infrared sauna for just 15 minutes a day!

When I am in the sauna I often use my time wisely and do facial massage or facial yoga

Well, ok, if I must look 10 years younger than I guess I’ll do it! 🙂

Mental Performance

Research has revealed that near-infrared light possesses a unique influence on the mind. It enhances the connectivity of networks within your brain and amplifies your cognitive processing capabilities, providing you with a revitalized sense of clarity and empowerment to tackle tasks more effectively.  Ummm, brain fog anyone?

Blood Pressure Reduction

Now, this picture is for attention because my cat is so cute!! His name is Punkin and my husband took him in the sauna because he is having some pain in his ( Punkin) shoulder. He loved the warmth!

But… the point is that my husband has been using the sauna regularly ( 3x a week) and has seen a drastic reduction in his blood pressure!

Before we had the sauna he was registering at about 161/85 or higher. This haad him nervous (and annoyed).

After just 2 months of regular sauna use his blood pressure is now down to 128/77! He is very happy with that

( NOTE: He has also been taking Hawthorn Berry supplements for several months which has helped but the sauna use has amplified the results!)

Stress Reduction

Relaxation. is a critical piece of the wellness puzzle

Stress-relieving activities are at the top of my list for helping women during the perimenopause and menopause to lessen menopausal symptoms because these hormones tend to elevate during this period (creating undesirable belly fat and a plethora of other health issues)

More happy days are guaranteed by infrared light, which helps to elevate feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. Developing a meditation practice in conjunction with your sauna treatments is a great way to achieve a deep and long-lasting sense of peace

Pain Reduction

Near-infrared light is making its presence felt in physical therapy and pain management clinics worldwide. By stimulating the mitochondria at a cellular level, it effectively enhances circulation, oxygenation, and healing responses, offering a natural solution for those grappling with joint and muscle pain, providing a path to find relief. Here is a great study showing the benefits of infrared sauna for pain relief but I can tell you from personal experience that it is AMAZING and reducing pain and stiffness!  This is going to be a game changer – especially in the winter months!

One of the things I love about the Sauna Space full spectrum sauna we use at the gym, (besides the fact that it is so warm, cozy and relaxing!)  is the portability of it!   I am amazed at how sturdy it is and the materials are top notch!

I put this thing together in an hour and I know that if I want to move it from the gym to the house or move it to a different room in the house at some point it will be a cinch!

It heats up so quickly that I often don’t pre warm it but if I want to save myself a few minutes and get sweating even more quickly,  I just turn the sauna lights on and do a few minutes of stretching or sit in front of the LED “happy light”  to beat the seasonal blues while I wait.
